The Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) is non-profit foundation that includes 70 bioinformatics research and service groups and 800 scientists across Switzerland. The SIB Text Mining research focus on semantic IT and text analytics applied to the health and life sciences. The group provides text mining solutions to support curation of bioinformatics databases, and search engines, automatic text classifiers and information extraction systems to help domain experts. The group is also designing evidence-based decision support system to assist healthcare professionals and clinical research to leverage personalized health. SIB Text Mining is thus involved in large national research projects, funded by SPHN (Swiss Personalized Health Network), in the fields of oncology, anatomo-pathology, hemo-oncology and rare diseases.
